Fashion is an expression of oneself through style and clothing. It is an art form that lives for creativity and breathes audaciousness. And while we here at FRESHLY.EDUCATED.MEN believe that men should be fearless when it comes down to their style, we must admit, there are some…misjudgments in fashion that most men make. So we will put the spotlight on these “Style Blunders” and provide the remedy for each one.
We spotlight “The Backpacker” and his travels…all while in his suit.
blunder
The business man of today is required to be versatile in his ability to perform at work. Crunching numbers to give to his superior, fly halfway around the world just to meet a potential client, and for some, apparently climbing atop Mount Everest for a business meeting. And while the latter is perplexing to us (and a sarcastic comment on our part), there are indeed men who actually believe that they are climbing a mountain after work…just take a look on Bay Street every weekday at 5pm. It’s unfortunate that the beautifully crafted (and might we add, tailored) suit that these men sport, is immediately ruined with the addition of their mountaineering equipment, all stored in their backpacks. It just looks, well…beggarly-like. Backpacks look especially vile when they are fully worn on both shoulders, furthering the devastation of that $2000 suit. What a pity.
remedy
If you’re not going to school, or planning on climbing Mount Everest anytime soon, ditch the backpack. And while a backpack can be more comfortable because you can throw it over your shoulder, it just looks juvenile on a grown man. Invest in a leather hand-held bag (briefcases, totes, satchels, attache cases); it will compliment that tailored suit of yours, while still being able to hold all your personal belongings and files. Now, perhaps you’re the type of man that despises holding any type of bag, instead of holding, let’s say a briefcase, you can also get a nice messenger bag to maintain a professional look but keep you hands free and comfortable.
